Clutch release bearing, also known as a "throw out bearing". This bearing presses on the pressure plate when your foot depresses the clutch. An early sign of wear is a whining or grinding noise when the clutch is first put in. This includes all 3.0L and 3.3L models built between 1976 and 1988.
